I haven't built a new gallery for a while and I'm having a problem adding a new gallery to an existing website using the preset I used for all the other galleries.

I'm using thumbnail buttons with a black background. When the gallery displays, all of the buttons except the first are not visible unless you move the cursor over one, in which case it becomes visible and active. The next and previous image arrows behave the same way, they are hidden until you hover over them.

I have a vague recollection that I encountered this in the past and was given a workaround but I cannot remember or locate it and I could be mistaken.

I'm running V1.4.3 on Mac OS 10.10.2. This is the first time I've run juicebox on this OS.

I appreciate any help!

This is a puzzling one. I have built a site for a client with a number of large galleries. They are reporting very slow loading of images in all galleries - they wait for the first image to display and start clicking each image in order - after 3-4 images each image takes a very long time to load. They get this consistently in 3 distinct environments/locations. I've seen speedtest results for one of them and it's a very fast connection.

I, on the other hand, do not experience this at all - ever. I've tested it on a wired computer and wireless ipad and itouch. Tested on Chrome (on computer) and safari on devices. I believe they are using firefox and safari.

I have the preloading option set to "page" which I assume preloads the first set of thumbnail images (10) before the first image displays. So selecting images 3-4 and on in that first set should load instantaneously, no? Shouldn't that be the option that would be best to avoid this very behavior they are seeing?

The images are fairly large (~1mb each) because I want high quality display for full screen mode.

Here is a link to the site: http://caitlinmccaffreystudio.com/caitlin/indexnew.htm

I can't understand why my experience (on different wired/wireless devices) is so different than theirs in different environments on high speed networks.

Is there anything I might do, other than make the images smaller, that could improve their performance - or issues to look for on their end that might explain the difference in performance?

Thanks
Bob

Captions are displayed in an area that maps to the outer edges of the image they are below. This a little "jumpy" if you are alternating between, for example, vertical and horizontal images. Also if you have a lot of text beneath a vertical image you may need to create a large max height that is not needed elsewhere.

Is there some way to increase the horizontal size of the area that captions are displayed within, just as you can increase the vertical size?

Thanks
Bob

I'm working on 2 sites simultaneously - on one, the next/prev page and next/prev thumbnail dots icons show properly (the arrow inside the circle). On the other site, they do not appear at all.

I've gone through all the settings several times in juicebox builder and I can't find where I am setting them differently. The site where they don't appear has a black background and I've seen in other cases where this can cause certain things to "disappear". I'm wondering if that is the case. But changing the background to some other color does not make these icons appear.

What controls the absence/presence of these?

Actually I am using imageTransitionType="FADE" and captionPosition="BELOW_IMAGE". Perhaps there is another combination with the same problem. Can you let me know what else I can try?

Thanks

I am creating a gallery where each image has a caption (but no title). When I publish it, the caption displays perfectly on the first image in the gallery but is missing on all the rest of the images.

Can you tell me where I'm going wrong?

Thanks

I did as you suggest, which makes the thumb button visible. However, when I change that it seems to disregard the settings for the Nav Button Icon and Nav Button Icon Hover values (currently #fff). The dots now stay fixed at whatever i set Nav Button Back Color to. Is there a way to still have the Icon and Hover values take effect and change the Back Color value?

Hmmm... I am using JB 1.3.1 and I have gone into Settings on my itouch and cleared the cache on safari before checking. I confirmed that my textShadowColor value in the xml file is rgba(0,0,0,0).

At one point I went through the css file and set all the values for items containing text-shadow to (0,0,0,0) [rather than removing them]. Interesting, they all had a non-zerop a value even though I had set a 0 opacity to text shadow color in juicebox builder. But this also did not seem to make a difference.

Here is the url where I still see drop shadows just for the image number in the galleries:

Can you take a look and see if you see what I see?

I am creating a gallery with a black background, so I set Lite->BackgroundColor to black in juicebox builder. I also want to use thumb dots. When I change the background color to black, you can't see the un-selected dots because they are also black. Is there a way to change the color of the non-selected dots?

thanks

I have been setting textShadowColor to zero in the Customize->Color section of JuiceboxBuilder-Pro since getting the new version. And I confirmed that as a result there is already a textShadowColor=rgba(0,0,0,0) entry in the xml file.

However, this is not eliminating the drop shadow on my itouch, specifically in the image numbers below the images. It does eliminate the drop shadows everywhere else, but not there. On my computer the image numbers are fine, but not on the iphone/itouch.

Also, I did check my settings in my profile and the email is correct and the messages have not been going to spam. I changed the setting to automatically subscribe to posts I make so I'll see if that helps.

Thanks

I did not find any entries for textShadowColor in the theme.css file. I did find several items for text-shadow with rgba values and I changed all of those to (0,0,0,0). This did not seem to correct the problem when viewed on my itouch (I did clear the Safari cache before checking).

I'm not sure I'm following your instructions properly - can you clarify where this parameter is set and exactly how to do it?

Also, for some reason I have not been receiving email notices recently to postings I am subscribed to so I have to periodically check for a reply. I used to get these but in the last several weeks I don't get them. Any thoughts about this?

Thanks

I've been able to remove drop shadows on text with the new version of juicebox without having to edit the css file. However, the text drop shadows reappear on an iphone/itouch rendering in the gallery views specific to those formats. How can I remove those? I assume I need to go back into the css?

Thanks

Seems I need the new version 1.3.1 for some changes I'm interested in. For some strange reason I cannot find the purchase email from about a month or so ago (I save all emails and have lots from you but not that one!). I bought a 5 site license.

Your upgrade page says if you've lost this email you can fill out a form to request a new link - but you need information from the purchase email to fill out this form!

How can I get the free upgrade given I can't find my original purchase email.

Bob Cornelis

I was told earlier that to remove text drop shadows I had to edit the css, which I have successfully done to remove those - I do not see any TextShadowColor setting in JuiceboxBuilder - am I missing that?

More importantly, I have tried setting ImageShadowColor in JuiceboxBuilder to Opacity 0 (from default of .4) and this does not help - there is still a drop shadow. I took a screenshot of the edge and examined it in photoshop to make sure I wasn't seeing things and there is definitely still a drop shadow. I also tried setting the ImageShadowColor background color to that of the overall background color (#fff in this case) and the drop shadow is still there.

Also, when you say to set values to RGBA (0,0,0,0) I want to make sure I do that properly. In the Image Shadow Color parameter I click on the color box and set the 6 digit hex value at the top. I've set it to #000 with opacity of 0, also to #fff with opacity of 0 and neither removes the drop shadow. Are you using some css3 that is not supported in some browsers? Though at this point I'm just observing (and testing screenshots from) the juicebuilder preview window, which I assume would be accurate.

I'm trying to remove ALL drop shadows in galleries. I've eliminated them from the gallery title and the image text. There are drop shadows to the left and right of all images in the galleries and I cannot figure out how to eliminate these. I tried removing all references to "shadows" of any kind in the theme.css file and that did not seem to work.

Thanks!

Is there any way to not have a msg pop up each time you go to full screen mode asking whether to allow or deny this?

Is there some way to control or override the cropping of thumbnails to square? For some images, portraits in particular, the default cropping doesn't work well. If I were to crop them by hand and replace those generated by the program in the folder, would that work? Is there an easier way?

Thanks

How can I do this from the standalone app?

Thanks

I would like to have just the image number (eg 1/22, 2/22) display under an image but have no title or caption. If I use the Lightroom plugin I can turn both off but for various reasons I just want to use the standalone application. I cannot find how to turn off the title but keep the image number short of deleting by hand all the titles in the image tab, which is very tedious. Is there some other way to achieve this just using juicebox-pro standalone app?

Thanks

How do I change the color of text within a gallery using the standalone Juicebox Pro app? I want to use a custom color that matches the rest of my website the gallery is being embedded into. It seems the Color panel only lets me change text color to one of the patches provided. How can I use a custom color?

I need to added a paragraph or two to certain images - I'm assuming the caption area is the best (only) way to do this. If I just drop the paragraph into the caption field, it runs off the screen to the right, in other words stays on one line and doesn't wrap.

Is there some way to allow more text to be displayed in the caption area?

Thanks

I just upgraded to the pro version and do not understand the instructions to "copy the /jbcore folder and paste it into the juicebox.lrwebengine' package". How does one paste a folder into a package like this on Mac OS X?

Thanks!
