Thanks again for the response.
So maybe all "we" need would be a link to a random image?

But I do not know anything about coding, and I guess it's anything but easy.

And it was just a suggestion for a nice little gimmick - no really important issue.

Thanks again for spending your time to answer.

Marco

Thanks for the reply.
I'll safe that to my memorie and will give it a try :-)

Looking at that wordpress widget ... back in the days when I used NextGenGallery, you could add a widget to your sidebar, displaying either the latest or a random thumbnail from your gallery (in our case, it should be the one juicebox uses), and a click on that thumbnail led you to that image in the gallery.

Hi there,

I'd like to suggest two things:

What about a button two switches between two or more color schemes, so the visitor can decide the one he likes best?

For example the current version of my gallery is on #ffffff white background, but there are some nightshots which look better on  #000000.
Wouldn't it be great to have a button that switches between these backgrounds?

Just a suggestion of a guy who does not know anything about coding :-)

Another suggestion would be a widget for wordpress, displaying either the latest or a random image.

Again: Just a suggestion of a guy who does not know any little thing about coding :-)

Thanks for the great gallery and thanks for your quick responses to any question we are posting to this forum.

Ah, thanks for that information.

I just had an idea and gave it a try: While the backbutton is enabled in the XML file of the gallery, I disabled it in the embedding code on the wordpress blog - and at least in Chrome it seems to work just the way I want it to.

Ah, thanks.
So it might work, but my idea of giving he "secret hyperlink" to friends just died ;-)

Nevertheless thanks for the quick and good response!

Hi there,

is there a way to hide the back button, when the gallery is shown embedded?

There are two ways to reach my gallerie: By a "secret" direct hyperlink and embedded to a wordpress page.
I enabled the Back Button, because it should lead the user to the start page of my wordpress blog, nevertheless wether he surfed directly to the "secret" hyperlink or watches the galery in expanded mode (from the wordpress page).

But I wish the Button was invisible while the user watches it in embedded mode.

Is there a way to make the script act like this?

Ouch ... I found it: While entering the captions I must have hit a  strange combination of keys and added a character that made the script stop reading the xml file at a certain point.

Removed the character and everything is fine again.

Now where's my "fool" sign? ;-)

Thanks for the quick response.

Then I guess it must be a server related problem - my website is hosted at 1&1 and I had problems with a NextGenGallery on a wordpress blog after reaching a certain size, too. The support told me it was kind of a "timeout" problem (as far as I understood it).
Maybe it's the same here?

With the latest version (1509,28KB) the gallery is running properly.

With the newest 14 pictures added I get this error message.

My gallery is at http://www.gelegenheitsknipser.de

Is there a maxium file size for the config.xml?
By adding the latest pictures, the config.xml of my gallerie grew to >1.5 MB, and surfing to my website the script says "Config XML file not found".

And if there is a maximum file size - is there any workaround?

Thanks in advance for the answer,

Marco

It works.
Thanks again!

Ah, that's a good idea. I'll give it a try.
Thanks!

Hi everybody,

because of individual problems (too many images (about ~1960 right now, and counting), too high jpg quality) Juicebox Builder can't open my gallery anymore.

As a workaround, I used to add my new pictures to a very small gallery, and after saving that gallery I took the new lines from the config.xml file and pasted them to a different .xml file (using a text editor), renamed that one and uploaded it to my webspace.

Now I think about reversing the sort of the images (changing from new->old to old->new, in order to let every image keep it's numer in the direct link).

Is there any tool that can do this automatically and safe me from doing Copy&Paste?

Steven wrote:

I have not been able to replicate this behavior but I am glad that everything seems to be working OK at the moment.

So am I :-)

Well, as writen above: after re-installing juicebox builder several times and creating a new gallery it can open the file again, so the problem is solved by a work-around.
And saving the files from the desktop to the gallery folder did only happen the first time i saved that new gallery, so everything is fine right now.

Maybe this happened because I navigated from the desktop to the folder with the new images, using a shortcut on the desktop?

Please note that you should navigate towards the gallery folder (not a file within the folder).

Did so :-)

What exactly happens when you try to open your existing gallery?

Nothing.

Does the 'Open Gallery...' button open the 'Select Gallery Folder...' window?

Yes.

Does JuiceboxBuilder-Pro freeze when trying to open the gallery?

No.

Are any error messages displayed on screen?

No.

Nevertheless it's strange that the juicebox builder puts the complete desktop into the gallery folder ...

JuiceboxBuilder-Pro should save a gallery to the location specified in the 'Gallery Folder' field on the 'Publish...' tab.
You can select the location using the 'Browse...' button.

Yes, it DOES save a gallery to that location.
But it also copies the files, shortcuts and folders from my desktop to that location.

Yes, it's easy to delete them there and I did so - but still it's strange :-)

Ah. Deinstalled and Reinstalled several times - no it works (still does not open the old gallery, but since I have to do copy & paste in a html editor because of my file sizes and gallery size) I can rebuild it.

Nevertheless it's strange that the juicebox builder puts the complete desktop into the gallery folder ...

I have the same problems.
I already deinstalled and reinstalled juicebox builder - it won't open my old gallery file.

Now I tried starting a new gallery and juicebox builder puts all folders, files and shortcuts from the desktop into tha gallery folder. Why?

After saving the galery file juicebox builder still won't open it.

Thanks for the new response.
Maybe I'll try that, but to be honest the images lack too much quality despite the setting of 99% - especially in the sky or similar areas.
I guess I'll keep using the Workaround I posted above.

Nothing changes ...

Thanks for your response!
I guess RAM can't be the problem, because it's 16GB here...
My images are sized max. 950x650, but at 99% quality.

Now I'll give it a try adding that imagePreloading line to the XML file and see what happens.

This is my workaround so far:
- copied the config.xml
- edited the original file in a html editor (phase5 here), erased all but my "start image" and the very latest addition
- used JuiceboxBuilder Pro to add the new pictures and saved that
- opened the new galley xml file with the html editor, selected and copied the entries for the new pictures
- opened the copy of the old xml file and pasted the entries for the new pictures
- deleted the config.xml
- renamed the copy to config.xml
- uploaded all that

Works, but it would be nice if JuiceboxBuilder Pro would work with bigger galeries.

Hi there,

I am using Juicebox Pro (currently 1.2) for rebuilding by photo website and was very pleased with the product.
But now I am facing problems that might be related with the size of the galley.
The last time I saved the gallery it had 947 images.

Now I want to add some more (my former website had ~1.850 images, and I am re-working all the pictures from my archive) and Juicebox Builder Pro 1.2 has problems opening the gallery file.

I can see the upper entries, but no tumbnails - and then the title bar of JuiceboxBuilder Pro says "No response".

Is there any workaround? Or can't the gallery handle bigger galleries?

Regards from Germany,

Marco

Thanks for the quick reply!

Ok, no problem ... I did not process too many images yet, so I'll start over.

Hello there,

first of all thanks for the juicebox gallery, which really meets the design I used on my website, when I added the images "handmade" in HTML.

I am about to build my gallery and after first deciding to use the "add watermak" option I changed my mind now and want to have the watermark removed. Is there any way to do this or will I have to start over with a new gallery?

Regards from Hamburg, germany,

Marco
