On Safari, OS10.8.3, the cache makes it difficult to test and retest the galleries.. new photos, etc..  Can't there be a button on the page that RELOADS without using CACHE?  It's crazy making for testing sites, and also, if I add a photo for a client, I can't ask them to clear their history to show the new photos..    Thanks!  If there's already an answer to this, let me know..  :)

The method Juicebox uses to incorporate SEO data has been tested and seems to work well with our demo SEO gallery here.
Take a look at the source of the page in a browser and try the Google demo search with http://juicebox.net and some terms from within the <noscript> section. The page for the demo SEO gallery should be displayed in the results.

on the search that one would put on a website to search just that site, doesn't it go directly to that site at that time and do the search?

I do not know. Perhaps it does take time and works only with sites which have already been indexed.

Yes, it did work on your page..  so apparently, Google Page Search must still only pick up what's been scanned by Google previously..  I thought it would make more sense for Google Site Search to go right to the source and bypass waiting for google to categorize it.  Well, should still work good at least after the pages get indexed..  I'm always changing them, that's the problem.. :)

In some cases, it may take up to 4 weeks before it shows up in Google search results.

I realize that for googles regular search, but on the search that one would put on a website to search just that site, doesn't it go directly to that site at that time and do the search? I would think it would work that way instead of using googles database of tracked information which does take a while.

You know what I'm referring to, right?  Thanks.

With the new search engine optimization, I thought I would be able to use something like Google Search for business websites..  I tried it, and I did a search for names of my photos, but Google Search test doesn't find anything.  Is the new seo feature supposed to work for this as well?  I see that in the index file, the NO SCRIPT section lists the searchable images and descriptions, etc... but I would think that Google Search should find that, but it's not.

http://www.google.com/enterprise/search … s_gss.html   is what I went to for testing search button.  All other things on my site come up, but still nothing on the new gallery test.

Any thoughts?   Could the google search be avoiding the NO SCRIPT area??  If so, is google really SEO friendly on this new SEO index page?

Thanks..

I mentioned that earlier as well..  A search engine for the gallery.   I number and describe each photo in the caption section, and really need to have a search bar somehow.  I'm trying to use a workaround until it's set up in Juice Box..

I may have mentioned this earlier in thread. Any possibility of being able to show which PRESET is currently assigned to the current gallery being created? Important item I'd say, in order to not overwrite the preset with new changes to the wrong preset if we save it.  Thx for opportunity to share ideas.

Would love to see simpler way to arrange order of photos in the software "Images" area.

A thumbnail view on the 'Images' tab of JuiceboxBuilder (with easier re-ordering of images) is coming in the next version of Juicebox (though I do not know when it will be released).

Any way to have an option to use caption on thumbnails as well?? That would be very helpful. Thx.
Really looking forward to future releases and new features. The potential is enormous and it's already great program.

Perhaps the easiest way to achieve this would be to upload your images to a Flickr account and to tag your images with appropriate keywords.
You could then allow users to input a search term (or to choose one from a drop-down menu) and feed the search term to Juicebox via the flickrTags configuration option.
For example, try using the following code as your gallery's index page. Name it 'index.php' and insert your own Flickr username.

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html lang="en">
    <head>
        <title>Juicebox-Pro Gallery</title>
        <meta charset="utf-8" />
        <meta name="apple-mobile-web-app-capable" content="yes" />
        <style type="text/css">
            body, html {
                margin: 0;
                height: 100%;
            }
            #header {
                background-color: #222222;
                color: #ffffff;
                height: 5%;
                text-align: center;
            }
            #main {
                height: 95%;
            }
        </style>
    </head>
    <body>
        <div id="header">
                <form action="index.php" method="get">
                    <div>Tag: <input type="text" name="tag">
                    <input type="submit" value="Submit"></div>
                </form>
        </div>
        <div id="main">
            <!--START JUICEBOX EMBED-->
            <script src="jbcore/juicebox.js"></script>
            <script>
                new juicebox({
                    containerId: 'juicebox-container',
                    useFlickr: 'true',
                    flickrUsername: 'username',
                    flickrTags: '<?php echo $_GET["tag"]?>'
                });
            </script>
            <div id="juicebox-container"></div>
            <!--END JUICEBOX EMBED-->
        </div>
    </body>
</html>

I don't use flicker. I number all of my photos and name them. The free google search for websites works for my other gallery but doesn't seem to find the comments on my photos that are generated by juicebox. Do you know why it wouldn't? I'll try again soon to make sure I'm not missing something. Thx.

Would LOVE to have a search feature in this..  Anyway?  I tried playing with Google Search, but it doesn't seem to want to find the Juicebox image by numbers or names..  Are they hidden somehow from Search by google website search ?   It finds my old images under old gallery.. but not the Juicebox one..   thanks!

I would like to have an option to show or popup caption if you roll over a thumbnail.

Would be nice to be able to see CURRENT PRESET that is being used in the gallery being worked on.  When I go to save a preset to update it, sometimes I forget which one I started with.  I'll be using a number of different presets and this would be helpful when re-writing the preset, so I don't overwrite the wrong one..  Thanks for considering this option!

I'll have to put it up first later. Just working on it locally.
I did discover something last night.
I changed the embed size from 100% to 770 x ""

Then it worked but what is best setting? It doesn't scale now with the page but didn't play around with it enough. I'll work on it later but advice always helps! Thx!

I tried the EMBED into an html page..  Wrote some text on the page to test if the embed worked..  I'm doing something wrong.. can't figure it out in user guide..

I moved the gallery into a folder on my site, then created an html page within that folder..  Tried to embed onto that page, and added some text at the top to check and make sure it was working..  Well, when I load the page, it momentarily shows the page with text at the top, and the juicebox logo loading,, and then it like pops into it's own page it seems and my text is gone.. So it's shifting back to the NONE new embeded page..

any help?

Thx. That I was aware of.. But what about CSS file changes? I see I can make CSS changes by duplicating the theme and renaming it before I work on it. So this will only work if embedding it and then selecting the new theme in the embedded code? Or can it be used on the original non embedded gallery?

Thx again. Rick

As a new user, I'd like to get certain basic questions answered if possible, so I don't spend hours trying to do something that Juicebox won't do.. Thanks..

1) Will I be able to generate custom text, size, etc, to save in my own custom skin for reuse?

2) Will I be able to add buttons and links to the template and have it generate these buttons/links each time I use the custom skin?

Trying to figure out my limitations, as I just spent days on another skin and realized that it doesn't work on ipad or iphone correctly and is unusable.

I basically have a website with a gallery of about 8 different folders to generate..  But I need a certain look.

Thanks for any info!  Rick

Could you perhaps zip and upload a couple of your photos (one whose caption is displayed and one whose caption is not) and provide a download link so that I can take a look at them and try to determine the cause of the problem? Thank you.

I redid everything and imported the photos again.. overwriting the old published photos.  It appears to have worked this time.. Don't know why some of the captions got dropped, but I'll keep you posted if I can duplicate what I did wrong.. Thanks!

Size of images is not a factor in this case. Note that Using IPTC captions is not a check-box that you set, it's a command that must be run whenever you add new images.

I believe I did it right, PLUS, I never added additional photos to the gallery anyway. They are all the same photos that I started with since playing around with the program.  I'm glad size is not a factor, but certainly something is not allowing it to be published.  I double checked the IPTC in other programs, and it's definitely there.. just skipping it on some of the photos..  Size is the only thing that seems consistent.  Seems the photos that I've done in recent months I've made a bit larger and they may be the ones not showing the Caption Description..  Again, I'll do some research, but any other possibilities, let me know..   Thanks..

I understand, but that's not the case.. I did not add new photos, and I always re-publish with the CAPTION IPTC chosen..  The only difference I think there is, is the photos that are not showing the caption may be larger photos than the others that show the caption..  I have to confirm that, but this is what it looks like so far.  My question than would be, if photos ARE indeed a little larger, should that affect the caption output?  Seems to me that it shouldn't, since the gray area overlay is still on these large photos..

Can you confirm that?  If it SHOULD work, then it may be something in the software that is keeping the caption from posting to the image.. Thanks..

I've been working with JB Pro about a week now.  Somehow, my captions are only showing on some pages and others are not.  See this link. There is Same DESCRIPTION field in iptc on every photo and yet, some photos don't show it. I checked to make sure the were on the original photos and they are.
If you look at link, you'll see that some have it and some don't.

I'm aware that some photos have a black border on them so it looks odd on certain photos. Still practicing with it but want to figure out this missing caption problem.
Thx.

Please come up with a place where we can save PREFERENCES..
Like  NO RESIZE IMAGES and ITPC Choice in caption, and Title  choice, like NONE or whatever. That would be great, as the presets don't seem to save those things and it has to get put in each time. Actually, for how I use it, I would really like the TITLE of Gallery to be savable in a preset.

I have about 13 different galleries where I use the same preset except I change the title of each gallery. So that for me would be great, as I can just duplicate the preset, and pre type in each title so each time I use it, I won't have to type it again. But as I mentioned above, the Caption choice and Title choice, should be set in preferences.
Thanks..   learning this program little by little.. but looking good, and with future updates, I'll bet it will be quite amazing!

Thanks and I'll do that!   On Jan 1 2013 I noticed that there was a coupon for 20% off of the PRO version, and I missed it by one day since it was for December.  Any chance they would honor that or is there another coupon coming? If so, I'll just go straight to pro version as  I know it's what I'm looking for. Just purchased Lightroom 4 and ready to update my website. I'm currently using antiquated code for legacy files of photoshop CS4 web galleries. Thanks again for info..   Really excited to try this!

Steven wrote:

Actually, my error.. it IS the IPTC Description I used in all of my 1500 photos.  So that would be great if it worked to extract the Description field to label all of my photos.

This should work fine for you. You can try it out with JuiceboxBuilder-Lite which comes with Juicebox-Lite (the free version) as JuiceboxBuilder-Lite and JuiceboxBuilder-Pro both support using the IPTC 'Description' fields for the gallery image captions. Just select 'Images -> Captions -> Use IPTC Captions' from the drop down menu at the top.
You can download Juicebox-Lite from this web page and instructions for installing JuiceboxBuilder-Lite can be found on this web page.

Thanks Steven.. Actually, my error.. it IS the IPTC Description I used in all of my 1500 photos.  So that would be great if it worked to extract the Description field to label all of my photos.

Steven wrote:

JuiceboxBuilder-Pro (which comes with Juicebox-Pro) uses the IPTC 'Document Title' and 'Description' fields to populate the gallery image titles and captions respectively. (These IPTC labels are those used by Adobe Photoshop. Other image manipulation programs may use different labels for these IPTC fields.)

JuiceboxBuilder-Pro does not extract and use EXIF information.

You may be able to use jAlbum and the Juicebox Skin to create a Juicebox gallery using your EXIF information for captions. You can try it by installing both jAlbum and the Juicebox Skin and going to the 'Album -> Settings -> Advanced -> Metadata' section from the drop-down menu at the top and selecting the 'EXIF' options in the appropriate checkboxes in the 'Comment sources' control panel.

Steven wrote:

I'm not sure that this is a bug as such but rather a side-effect of creating a new image in Adobe AIR.
It may be necessary to extract all metadata, create a new resized image and then import the metadata into the new image.
I will contact the developers with this suggestion but I do not know easy it would be to implement.

In the meantime, the workaround would be to resize and watermark your images in an image manipulation program such as Adobe Photoshop before feeding them to JuiceboxBuilder-Pro and ensure that the 'Resize Images' checkbox is deselected.

I'm just ready to purchase Pro and I'd like to know one thing. I have all of my photos with exif description filled in on over 1500 photos. I used to use the old photoshop web galleries which supported import of the description in exif file.  Will juicebox use the description field instead of caption field if I want?  Otherwise I have a lot of work ahead of me changing all of my descriptions to caption field. Thanks!
