Thanks for the clarification Steven
Hi guys, sorry for the delay in replying, I have been opening a new gallery from scratch and it appears to be an issue with an apostrophe used in the filename of the images - as suggested by Mike S (thanks Mike). Once I removed this for a test image the problem went away. Downgrading to earlier Adobe Air versions did not help. Underscores in filenames do not upset JB btw.
So is this another quirk of JB that we will have to live with or can it be fixed in future versions?
Many thanks
best
Simon
I am using the latest version of JBP 1.2.0, the latest Adobe Air, Macbook Air running 10.8.2
I have just returned to JBP after a few weeks hiatus and am bemused: I drag images into JBP as before, the thumbnails appear but when I go onto the customise tab the images are just represented by question marks. What's going on?
Simon
I dont think so considering that I can see them and view them in PhotoMechanic or Photoshop immediately prior to importing them into JB.
But this discussion has been solved by Steven when he admitted 'JuiceboxBuilder-Pro does not retain IPTC (or EXIF) data from the original images when generating new resized images.' Accepting this aspect/flaw of JB I can workaround it by re-sizing the images myself before import and turning off JB's 're-size' images check box.
My workflow is: raw from camera- processed out to jpeg via Adobe Camera Raw plugin for photoshop - then images individually adjusted in Photoshop CS6 and saved.
Hi Steven, thanks for the workaround suggestion, I have tried that and it works fine and is a big relief.
'JuiceboxBuilder-Pro does not retain IPTC (or EXIF) data from the original images when generating new resized images.' In my experience that statement is not entirely true, it DOES but only if you've not re-saved them before - as I mentioned in the previous reply.
Hi Steven thanks for the reply. I know what's going on now. It's the irritating issue that JB will not add captions to images that have been re-saved. Thus in my workflow I shoot raw and process them through ACR and they are outputted as j-pegs. If I use these jpegs immediately to create a JB gallery then the IPTC is pulled in, if I do further adjustments and re-save them then the IPTC won't be pulled into JB.
This is a significant problem. Clearly I wish to present galleries to clients with caption info AND images looking as good as they can, but there's only so much you can do in ACR with other critical adjustments only possible in Photoshop itself. I wonder if this can be fixed in later versions of JB? I certainly hope so.
I know you can manually cut and paste caption info but this is much too time consuming and simply not viable with large galleries.
Thanks Steven but rest assured the caption info is in the correct field..
I have managed to get JB to import IPTC captions from full-res images dragged in from Photo Mechanic in the past but weirdly now this seems to have stopped working on version 1.2.0 . I've re-booted JB a number of times but no luck, what's going on?
Thanks
Simon
Hi Felix, thanks, emptying the trash was the clincher, the new version then installed correctly. Oh and I also updated to the latest Adobe Air version first
OK so I bought a licence for Juicebox, downloaded and got version 1.1.1, then heard from a friend that there was a new version, looked in all the usual places for 'check for updates' and found none, read on your website that the original link is good for 5 downloads, download a newer version 1.2.0 but it refuses to install, read somewhere that you cannot install a new version until you uninstall the original, look for some sort of uninstaller, none found, use App Clean to remove the files, try to install the newer version again, still will not install - giving error message. Drag 1.1.1 out of the trash and get it working again but now cannot upgrade to newer version as no idea how to, please help
