Topic: z-index and my navigation [SOLVED]

I built a page with navigation and the juice box gallery and quickly discovered that juice box had z-index which forced the splash image on top of my navigation, so I added z-index to my navigation to push it on top of the splash image... but now that i have done this, my navigation appears on top of the portfolio once you click the splash image and it looks horrible.  How can this be fixed?

Visit ...  http://fotorep.me/photographers/steven-white

and see how the navigation works on top of the splash image.

then click the splash image to launch the portfolio and you will see what i mean about my navigation appearing there.

Now, if I take the z-index out of my navigation then it does not appear in the portfolio (which is what I want), but then it falls behind the splash image.

Please help.

Re: z-index and my navigation [SOLVED]

There is currently a known bug whereby elements which have explicitly been assigned a CSS position are not covered by the fullscreen gallery (they should be). This bug should hopefully be fixed in a future version of Juicebox. In the meantime, please try one of the two following suggestions:

(1) Set useFullscreenExpand="TRUE" (in JuiceboxBuilder-Pro's 'Customize -> Lite' section).
... or:
(2) Set expandInNewPage="TRUE" in (in JuiceboxBuilder-Pro's 'Customize -> General' section). When the gallery is expanded, it will be displayed on a page of its own rather than on top of the embedding page.

Hopefully one (or both) of these suggestions will be a suitable solution to your problem until the bug is fixed.

Re: z-index and my navigation [SOLVED]

Thanks Steven.  I did (1) above and it worked perfectly.

Re: z-index and my navigation [SOLVED]

That's great! Thank you for posting back to let me know.
As I noted, this bug should hopefully be fixed in the next version of Juicebox but, in the meantime, just continue to use this workaround.

Re: z-index and my navigation [SOLVED]

This bug (whereby elements from the embedding web page may still be visible after a gallery has been expanded) has now been fixed in v1.4.3. Please see this blog entry for more information on the latest version.
