Topic: JuiceboxBuilder-Pro has unexpectedly stopped working

Greetings,

JuiceboxBuilder-Pro had been working fine for me but today I tried to load an existing gallery and nothing happened... so I tried to create a new gallery and again nothing.  The application itself opened without problem and clicking "Open Gallery..." brings up the "Select Gallery Folder" dialog but after selecting the folder nothing happens.  Clicking "New Gallery..." does nothing at all.

Help!

First of all, make sure that you have the latest versions of both Adobe AIR (v4.0) and JuiceboxBuilder-Pro (v1.3.3).
Adobe AIR can be downloaded from this web page.
Please see the Upgrading Juicebox support page for details on how to get the latest version of Juicebox-Pro.

Try the following:
(1) Uninstall JuiceboxBuilder-Pro
(2) Delete the following folder manually: /Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/JuiceboxBuidler-Pro/
(3) Reinstall JuiceboxBuilder-Pro

No luck.  Still not working.

AIR is version 4.0.0.1390
JuiceboxBuilder-pro is 1.3.3

I tried uninstalling JuiceboxBuilder-pro via the installer, deleting /Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/JuiceboxBuidler-Pro/ then reinstalling JuiceboxBuilder-pro and I am still seeing the same problem.  The app starts and displays the "Start" screen but then won't load or create a gallery.  It doesn't crash or anything, it is still there, and clicking  "Open Gallery" again will again display the file selection dialog, but selecting something from that dialog continues to do nothing.

It had been working fine until last night and I haven't changed or installed or updated anything recently.  I had been running Photoshop CS5 when the problem began (I usually use CC but still occasionally need CS5 for its scanner support and this was almost certainly the first time I've run it since buying Juicebox Pro) but can't think of anything otherwise that I haven't done tons of times before.

Unfortunately, I do not know what might have caused your JuiceboxBuilder-Pro installation to do this but please try the following. (Another user who has reported a similar scenario claims to have had success with this procedure.)

(1) Uninstall JuiceboxBuilder-Pro.
(2) Delete the following folder manually: /Users/your_username/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AIR/ELS/JuiceboxBuilder-Pro/
(3) Search the hard drive for all instances (files or folders) 'JuiceboxBuilder-Pro' and delete whatever is found.
(4) Reinstall JuiceboxBuilder-Pro but to a location other than the application folder.

That worked.  As expected I lost my user-saved presets - it's inconvenient but not a big deal.

If you had remembered that you had custom presets, you could have backed them up and reinstated them.
I would recommend saving your own preset files in a location other than the application's own folder (or at least keeping a copy of them elsewhere).
I realise that this is too late for this time around but it may prevent you from losing your presets again.

However, I am glad that JuiceboxBuilder-Pro is working again for you.

I do not know what may have caused this to happen (and, therefore, cannot suggest anything to prevent it happening again) but I have notified the developers and they will investigate further and hopefully find the root of the problem so that it can be fixed in a future version of Juicebox.
