I have the same issue.
I have tried everything on multiple PCs, and it just won't go past the Splash Screen.
Cannot get past "New Gallery" or "Open Gallery"
I have Galleries on the PC on a NAS and on Dropbox - the dialogue sees them, and I can select them, but the app just returns to the start screen.
@mike
I'm pretty sure your problem is different to that of JCLake. The original problem is caused by an incompatible version of AIR (with no support for WebKit, the built-in browser which JuiceboxBuilder-Pro requires for the live preview on the Customize panel).
Your problem sounds more like this: https://juicebox.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5295
As such, I've split your posts into a new topic.
First of all, try copying your gallery folder to the same hard drive that JuiceboxBuilder is installed on before opening it from there.
Also, make sure that the copy location is not actively being synced by an online backup or file sharing service (such as Dropbox or OneDrive). In addition, make sure that your system Documents folder (where JuiceboxBuilder-Pro stores its temporary work folder) is also not being synced.
If you still can't open the gallery, then there might be a persistent .tempGallery folder from a previously failed attempt to open a gallery (see link above for more details).
With JuiceboxBuilder-Pro closed, navigate to C:\Users\Username\Documents\JuiceboxBuilder-Pro\ and manually delete the .tempGallery folder from there (if it exists) before trying again.
I hope this helps.
Hi All,
I found an old Surface Laptop - installed Windows 11 on it with Adobe Air as described and the JBB-Pro and it seems to work fine - so will be using that for now.
Will get back to trying to sort out the main issue - using your help below as soon as I have4 finished the lates galleries.
Thanks for your help so far.
I'm glad you've found a suitable workaround for the time being.
I hope you can resolve your original problem in due course. (It certainly sounds like it might be a gallery location or sync-related issue.)
I am running in to the same problem. Recently I have reinstalled Windows 11 and JuiceboxBuilder pro is behaving badly. It first didn't wanted to add a New Gallery, finally yesterday evening I succeeded after reinstalling Air and JuiceboxPro and cleaning ip all profile folders of JuiceBoxpro. Today I wanted to open them for the text and to my surprise. It refused to work again. .TempGallery folder of Juicebox Pro is nicely created but JuiceBoxpro don't want to open it. When I close JuiceBoxPro the .tempGallery is nicely removed. I make use of Air 33.1.1.744, this is the one commended by Steven.
My document folder is in OneDrive, has closed OneDrive no success at all.
@arachnid
Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to suggest.
My document folder is in OneDrive...
That is certainly a known issue for JuiceboxBuilder-Pro but it usually results in JuiceboxBuilder-Pro not being able to delete the .tempGallery folder on closing (causing problems on the next run). This is clearly not happening in your case, though.
For confirmation, AIR v33.1.1.744 is the correct version of AIR (but even though a more recent version will cause problems, they would not be similar to the problem that you are experiencing).
Are you actually using OneDrive or was it just there by default when you reinstalled Windows?
If you are not using it, I'd recommend uninstalling OneDrive completely and rebooting your PC to see if that helps.
A clean install of JuiceboxBuilder-Pro after uninstalling OneDrive might be wise, too, manually deleting the following folders (if they exist) between uninstalling and reinstalling:
C:\Program Files (x86)\JuiceboxBuilder-Pro
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ELS\JuiceboxBuilder-Pro
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\JuiceboxBuilder-Pro
C:\Users\Username\Documents\JuiceboxBuilder-Pro
(OneDrive is the only red flag in your message and the only clue that I've got to work with, knowing that it can interfere with JuiceboxBuilder-Pro.)
For the record, I'm running JuiceboxBuilder-Pro (current version, v1.5.1.2, labelled as v1.5.1 in 'Help -> About') under AIR v33.1.1.744 on Windows 11 x64 Version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.8457) with no problems (OneDrive uninstalled many years ago and no other active sync/backup programs running).
It is not to blame Onedrive in this case, it it the inability of JuiceboxBuilder Pro to make use of the Windows temp folder. This is the correct location folder for temporary files.
I am using JuiceBuilder Pro since it came on the market and it was always running fine in combination with file synching programs.
We never get a new version or update after 2017 and technology has evolved in the last 9 years.
Webkit is replaced by WebView, IE 8 is obsolete and JuiceBox Pro is using Jquery 2.x and the latest Jquery is version 4 at the moment. Juicebox Builder is making use or supporting all this old technology
JuiceboxBuilder 1.5.1 is making use of old obsolete technology and this is causing problems with opening old galleries, the data is copied to the .tempGallery but JuiceboxBuilder is not opening it. Before creating a new Gallery we need to delete the .tempGallery manual because JuiceBoxBuilder Pro is using an obsolete API for it. The new technology can't be blamed for the issues and bugs with JuiceBox Builder Pro
What we need is a new up-to-date JuiceBoxBuilder Pro, visitors of the website can still buy a license of an old product, I don't understand this.
With my knowledge of Webbuilding and programming I am able to use JuiceBuilderPro but is this the same for other users of JuiceBox Pro
