Topic: Juiceboxbuilder-Pro crashing with larger galleries [SOLVED]

Hello, I purchased the Pro version mainly to satisfy the need of making galleries larger than 50 images. I am trying to make two galleries, one of 270 and one of 650 images and the program keeps crashing. I am running Windows 7. Please help. Thanks, Dean

Re: Juiceboxbuilder-Pro crashing with larger galleries [SOLVED]

If you are trying to add many images to JuiceboxBuilder-Pro at once, then Adobe AIR (the platform on which JuiceboxBuilder-Pro runs) may not be able to allocate enough memory for the task at hand.
Even if your computer has plenty of free RAM, Adobe AIR applications are limited to around 1GB of memory allocation.
The workaround is to add your images in smaller batches (so try adding, say, 50 images at a time).
I hope this helps.

Re: Juiceboxbuilder-Pro crashing with larger galleries [SOLVED]

Hi Dean,

I came upon your post in this forum and used to have to import the images piecemeal as support suggested, but in my case, I have found a solution that works wonderfully for me. I too run windows 7.

I have found that Juicebox, or maybe Adobe Air does not like your source images to be stored in sub-directories, so I simply take the image folder out of my job folder subdirectory and place it in the top directory of my assets disc.

My working disc, which is just for image files,etc is disc M. So when you go to browse to import images, the path is simply: M\image folder (from the job that you want to create a gallery from).

I haven't had a single problem since.

All that I can say is that it solved all of my woes...

BTW, I have a client that likes file names to be on the long side, containing the event name, so in some cases, long file names can cause problems and I have to use abbreviations in the file names to sidestep this issue.

Best regards,
Vic

@victorbruce

Thank you for sharing your experiences.
It certainly sounds like you might be encountering a different problem (regarding long path names) as well as the 'adding too many image at once' issue.
As noted in this Microsoft support page:

In the Windows API (with some exceptions discussed in the following paragraphs), the maximum length for a path is MAX_PATH, which is defined as 260 characters.

This limitation can be removed in Windows 10 (version 1607 and later) by setting a registry key. Details are in the link above. (Please do so at your own risk.) I just mention it as it may help other users reading your post and using Windows 10.

Thanks again for your notes!

@Steven

Thank you for your response Steven. Yes, the file name issue did not pop up much, but moving my working images to the top level of the directory was certainly a game changer on my system.

Thank you for the great product!

Vic

No worries!
I'm glad you're getting on well with Juicebox-Pro (and able to work around the AIR and Windows-related limitations).
